If you’re lucky enough to be in Wales on 1 March, you’ll find it’s one of the most colourful days of the year. Bright yellow daffodils, green leeks and vibrant traditional dress are all out in celebration of St David, the country’s patron saint. Look out for a day of parades, concerts and festivals of music, language and culture.

Take the train from the coastal harbour of Porthladd Abergwan, through Carmarthen and onwards to Swansea the birthplace of writer and poet Dylan Thomas. This beautiful region of Wales is perfect to explore further on foot with seaside views, rolling countryside and peaceful landscapes. Leave the train and enjoy one of the many picturesque walks here, many are fully accessible too.
