We’re driven by local knowledge and insights from across community rail

Scenic Rail Britain is Community Rail Network‘s unique tourism campaign that encourages people to take the train for sustainable tourism and leisure, showcasing Britain’s lesser-known, scenic and historic railways, and the hidden gems, charming towns and villages, and memorable attractions they offer access to.

The campaign is special in the way it’s driven by community-led content, with local insights and knowledge from across the grassroots movement. Scenic Rail Britain is also a tool for our 75 community rail partnerships and 1,300 station friends groups, helping them to directly engage more than 16,000 people per year in grassroots activities to promote rail-based sustainable tourism (on top of 10,000s more through their local and regional communications). It therefore bolsters and empowers our members to promote their stations and lines, while also drawing on their rich array of local knowledge, insights and stories.

Travelling by train is one of the greenest ways to travel – 67% less polluting than driving. We’re proud to support ‘I came by train’, a collective movement to help fight climate change. Switching just one journey to train can cut your CO2 impact.
