Community Rail Charity Christmas Train with Father Christmas
We wanted to end this year’s Scenic Rail in Winter with this heartwarming story from our community rail friends. Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership united with NEST (North Essex Support Team) to offer a festive day out by train for local families in need. The special trip provided children the opportunity to meet Father Christmas, enjoy festive snacks and receive gifts, donated by local business and wrapped by the residents from a nearby care home. Everyone enjoyed the karaoke machine on board, singing along to Christmas favourites and at the end of the journey, children were able to choose a gift to take home and give to their parents on Christmas Day.
This is just one example of the vital work that is carried out across the community rail movement, throughout the year. Find out more and how you can get involved here.
