From dramatic coastlines and bustling cityscapes to tranquil countryside scenes and the character of Britain’s industrial heritage, travelling by rail offers a unique perspective on some of the nation’s most memorable landscapes.

As part of Campaign for Better Transport’s Better Transport Week 2026, we’ve once again been shining a spotlight on the views that make rail journeys so special through our joint #ScenicRailView competition. Rail passengers from across Britain have shared their favourite window-seat moments, showcasing the beauty, diversity and sustainability of travelling by train.
